I've met some people who've basically convinced themselves that they'll die if they don't get their sugar fix. Some even think a diet soda is a good solution for curbing their sweet tooth, because it gives that sugary taste. Personally, I can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners, so that's never been a problem. But what about those sweet treats so many people crave?
Well my advice is that if you can stick to a solid fitness program, including a full exercise regimen and a healthy, natural diet low in added sugar, then you can have the occassional treat. Note I said "occassional" and that doesn't mean daily or hourly. But to try to cut them out completely may cause your whole program to fail. Practice moderation and your transition to healthier lifestyle will be easier and more comfortable.
And by the way, if you'd prefer to feel healthier and avoid drastically increasing your risk for cancer, then avoid the artificial sweeteners at all costs. I'll talk more about those in an entry to follow.
