The situp has many variations, most of them involving the position of the legs and hands. For a standard situp cross your arms on your chest and put your feet flat on the floor, hooking them under a situp bar or other object (such as the bottom of the couch). Squeeze your abdominal muscles and sit all the way up. When you come down, make sure your back stays just slightly off the ground. Do not release the tension in your core. Also try the same exercise holding your bent legs up in the air.
