Popular fad diets are designed to help you lose weight... in your wallet, bank
account, and pocketbook. They are guaranteed to work in lowering your
net worth, and perhaps your self-esteem, but they rarely work on a long-term
basis to keep you healthy. There are no magic pills, supplements, drinks, or
machines. The key is not a short-term program to modify your food intake, but
instead a lifestyle change to make you more active and healthy.
The key is not a short-term program to modify your food
intake, but instead a lifestyle change to make you more active and healthy.
This is not to say some of these fad diets don’t work, but it must be something
you can live with long-term to effect a real lifestyle change. While many fad
diets do provide useful advice or are based on scientific principle, diets
based on starving or “cleansing” should be avoided as they will inevitably lead
to further weight gain.
At FitDaily we do not
endorse fad diets. We believe in a moderate approach to daily nutrition. If
your current diet is unhealthy, a short term change is not going to make a
long-term difference. The key to overall health is a maintainable lifestyle
change. You can't expect to meet your fitness goals under a temporary regimen.
You must be prepared to make lifelong changes. Because we employ a moderate
approach, we make such changes possible and maintainable.
You might be thinking, "Oh no! If I want to be healthy I can never eat ice
cream again!" But this isn't true at all. Not only are there healthy
alternatives to high-fat, high-calorie foods including ice cream, but with an
overall healthy diet, an active lifestyle, and frequent exercise, your
metabolism will support the occassional indulgence. This doesn't mean you'll be
able to eat a carton of ice cream every day, but it does mean there are ways to
continue to eat the things you enjoy in moderation. And we encourage you to do
so, because if you don't enjoy your new nutritional lifestyle, you won't stick
with the program.
